The Idaho Operations Office has focused its effort over the past several years on cleaning up the legacy facilities and contamination at the INL site, and creating new missions focused on performing research and development in energy programs and national defense. The Idaho Operations Office oversees the operations of the Idaho National Laboratory (INL), one of 10 major national laboratories operated by various industrial, university or non-profit contractors for DOE.

Idaho National Laboratories

In operation since 1949, INL is a science-based, applied engineering national laboratory dedicated to supporting the U.S. Department of Energy’s missions in nuclear and energy research, science, and national defense. IDL’s mission is to ensure the nation’s energy security with safe, competitive, and sustainable energy systems and unique national and homeland security capabilities.
