Join us in Nashville, Tennessee for an exciting series of events where you can connect, create, and celebrate with nuclear industry professionals and educators.
December 16: Industry Summit
- Discover the future of academic and technical training needs for the nuclear industry—especially those beyond formally trained nuclear engineers—and explore how academic partnerships can address these needs.
- The Summit will cater to those building or looking to build nuclear capacity over the entire fuel cycle in the U.S.
- Participants will include representatives (industry, academic, federal/state agency, governmental, non-governmental organizations) from states looking to, or in the process of, starting up a nuclear energy system industry. Representatives with experience and training beyond traditional nuclear engineering will also be present representing:
- Civil, environmental, mechanical, systems, and chemical engineering programs
- Materials science
- Construction management
- Engineering management
- Engagement & outreach
- Law, policy, and regulatory affairs
- Business
December 16 Dinner
- Celebrate 30 years of support provided to the Department of Energy by the Consortium for Risk Evaluation with Stakeholder Engagement (CRESP).
- CRESP is one of the nation’s leading independent, interdisciplinary research groups focused on managing the environmental legacy from production of defense nuclear materials and nuclear energy.
- CRESP has been support by the Department of Energy’s Office of Environmental Management through a cooperative agreement since 1995, and Vanderbilt University is leading this multi-university consortium of engineers, scientists, and legal and policy experts.
- In addition to supporting DOE’s Office of Environmental Management, support has also been provided to the DOE Office of Nuclear Energy, DOE Office of Legacy Management, Nuclear Regulatory Commission, and National Nuclear Security Administration.
December 17: Educator’s Workshop
- This workshop is for engineering and science educators primarily at 2-year and 4-year institutions in the Tennessee Valley Region (AL, GA, KY, NC, SC, TN) who are looking to expand their curricula offerings or learn more about the burgeoning nuclear industry within the U.S. today.
- The purpose of the workshop is to increase awareness of nuclear workforce opportunities, provide foundational information regarding nuclear missions, and introduce teaching resources available to support educational initiatives.
- Join us to learn about the history and future of nuclear power generation in the U.S., state-of-the-art education & training initiatives, and more.
